Scripta Check

Check a record before it's filed

Choose the document type, then paste the text or open a Word or PDF file. You get a short list of what to change, sorted by how soon.

Every record is checked against
  • The Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015
  • The Quality Standards
  • Ofsted's SCCIF
  • Working Together to Safeguard Children 2026
  • DfE guidance on reducing restraint
  • The Care Planning Regulations 2010

Three steps, nothing to install

Step 1

Add the record

Choose the document type, then paste the text or open a Word or PDF file. Nothing is uploaded.

Step 2

Screen it

It's read in context against the Regulations, the Quality Standards, the SCCIF, Working Together 2026, the DfE restraint guidance and the Care Planning Regulations.

Step 3

Fix and print

Work through the list of what to change and where, or print it as a tick-list for staff.

Three levels, so you know what comes first

Must fix

Before the record is filed or shared: safeguarding follow-up, another child's name, missing dates.

Should fix

Within 48 hours: vague times, the child's own words, wording to check.

Could improve

No deadline: plainer, more specific language.

What to change in this record

Each change says which paragraph it's in and how soon to make it. Select a paragraph to see it in the record.

What happens to the records you check

Spell checkers and browser extensions

Some browsers offer an enhanced spell check that sends what you type to Google or Microsoft. Scripta Check turns spell checking off in the record box and its other text fields, so that can't happen there.

Browser extensions, such as writing assistants and translators, can read any page you open. Turn them off for this site, or use a browser profile without them, before you paste a record.

Information our hosting provider handles

Scripta Check's files are hosted by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare handles the technical information needed to deliver the pages and keep them secure, such as your IP address, your browser type and the time of your visit. It does this on our behalf, and this information never includes the records you check.

Cloudflare may process this information outside the UK, using legal safeguards such as standard contractual clauses. You can read Cloudflare's privacy policy. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in running a secure website.

Cookies and tracking

Scripta Check sets no cookies and saves nothing in your browser's storage. It has no analytics, advertising or third-party scripts, and it loads no fonts or files from other websites.

Your organisation's responsibilities

Your organisation remains the data controller for the records you check and for any reports you save. Follow its policies on where records may be opened, and don't paste records into other online tools.

Your rights and complaints

Apart from the hosting information above, Scripta Check holds no personal information about you or the children named in the records you check. For questions about that information, use the contact details at the top of this notice.

If you're unhappy with how your information has been handled, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office through ico.org.uk or by calling 0303 123 1113.

About the screening

Scripta Check is a screening aid. It supports, and does not replace, professional judgement, your home's own policies, the placing authority's requirements or legal advice.
